Let him eat cake...

Kate Higdon, I love you. Not only do you take amazing pictures that are so perfect (and so incredibly hard to choose from)...but you let my son eat cake in your studio! This picture was only the beginning. It. Was. Everywhere. He had a ball, I had a ball watching him, and I think he fell in LOVE with you over again. Thank you for taking pictures of him over the last year. We'll forever be grateful for the moments you've "Captured" for our little Ty.

July Babies are WAY cool!

So, today is my birthday. What better way to wake up than to hear Todd wake up Ty via the baby monitor? He told him “Okay Bubs…today is Mommy’s birthday. When we walk down the steps, we’re going to sing Happy Birthday. Deal?” So as I hear them hoofing down the steps, the singing begins. And, so does the fussy whimper. What can I say? Ty wants to eat when he wakes up. Like, immediately when he wakes up. He doesn’t mess around.
After eating and playing around a bit, we all had to get ready. I decided to just leave work a few hours early to try and squeeze in some pool time. About 10am, the skies opened up and BAM. There goes my pool day! So, Todd brought me lunch, and we decided to just hang out at home after I left work (after I got some gym time to myself!) We thought maybe we could watch a movie or something while Ty played “toys”. Well, after getting home, Ty was STILL sleeping (2.5 hour nap this afternoon). Todd and I got to relax a little and just talk. And, it was nice. There was no agenda. And, for and for a short while we were able to RELAX! He then brought me dinner…yes, I ate all day today because I could, right?
Then we went on a bike ride…well, I did. On my NEW bike!!! Todd and Ty drove the golf cart right next to me like most other nights. Maybe that means Ty will be the next “Tiger Tiger Woods Ya’ll”??? That’s pretty much is favorite thing right now. Anyhow, my bike. It’s Purty! It’s Blue and I have a little trailer that isn’t attached yet, but hopefully one day soon it’ll be put together. I’m super-pumped to use it as a pair! I’ve been saying I want one for like ummm….well, at least a new bike for many, many years. So, now that I finally have it I’m all gung ho and I’m going to get a new gelee seat and a water bottle holder and all kinds of cool gadgets for it. Ty was so cute…he waved to me the entire time I was riding next to the golf cart saying “hi Mama”. I think he was a little confused as to why I wasn’t sitting next to him, but he was still a happy little stinker! So stinkin’ sweet.
I also received many, many cards (LOVE getting mail that’s not bills…totally makes me smile), calls, emails, presents, bday cakes, and fb messages. It feels so good to hear from people you don’t get to talk to as often as you’d like. So nice to feel so loved J And, better yet…this has been a birthday celebrated over a week long period…with family and friends. Yes, I’m spoiled and I’ll admit it!
I know I probably said this last year, and I’ll probably say this every birthday from here on out. But, today was the best birthday EVER. We don’t get to relax much around here. Most weekends are jam packed and work days are…well, they’re too short. We travel all the time (which we enjoy), but it makes weekdays even busier. Half the year Todd’s at a baseball field most hours of the day. So, having time with my boys with no agenda was pretty much the best thing ever. I’m a lucky girl. I really, really am.

This time last year...

This was Ty Babes last year about this time. I was on my way to visit Jonathan, my hairdresser. I had an appointment scheduled 2 days after I had Ty, so as I'm laying in the hospital bed with pitocin and no epidural I called him to inform him it was going to need to be rescheduled. Because it's normal to think of those things while your sitting there miserable, right? I was supposed to have my hair done, a mani/pedi, and make-up perfect for delivery, right? Haha!
That was my first dose of "Ty comes first". I was in denial about the whole water breaking deal. Asking the nurse if I could stop by labor and delivery on my lunch probably wasn't the smartest thing I've ever done. However, I was a rookie. I had it in my mind that I was going to work until delivery (which I did) and that my desk would be cleared off, out of office "on", and my maternity leave would begin "planned". Bhahaha. Yeah, not so much.
Anyhow, check out the tan on Bubby's. He had his Billy blanket on for jaundice and Todd and I slept on the 2 recliner's next to him so we could hold him. Poor buddy looked like a glow worm...so little and cuddly and awwww....he was a letting me cuddle with him even when he was awake. Now he's just a wiggle worm! Love him's. So,so much!

BFF's

So...Ty's 1st birthday party was today. I have oodles of pictures to share (from yesterday too), but that's going to come later. I promise. Today though, I must share this sweet little picture of Ty and his BFF's.

These 3 little cuties were all born in the last year. Ty is almost 1, Brayden is about 8.5 months old, and Macey is almost 4 months old. We joke how Brayden and Ty will fight over Princess Macey when they realize that girls are worth fighting over. We're so lucky to have friends like Steph and Bryce, and Mark and Katie. Not just because we could depend on them for just about anything. Because they're our family too.

My family is 2 hours away...and while that may not seem like alot to some it's way too far for me. Ethan, my nephew, is such a joy to be around and we love EVERY SECOND of the time we spend together. We hope Ty and him always think of each other as brothers (because Ethan says "I'm kind of like the Big Brother aren't I?") I talk on the phone to him nearly everyday and I look forward to that on my way home from work.

But, Todd doesn't have any siblings, so these kiddos are his "niece and nephews". It's so fun to see the kids share pacy's and share toys. The boys are all at the same sitter on Fridays which I'm sure is a handfull for Stacey (the sitter), but we're so happy they can play all day together! Diva Macey will be tough as nails hanging around these guys...but she's got it made because there won't be a guy in town that will mess with her with Brock, Ty, and Brayden watching over her.

God has blessed our family so much by giving us such great friends. We're honestly surrounded...both near and far. And, that is the best feeling ever!
