Y3W: 5 Year Anniversary

5 years ago today, we said "I DO".
We were surrounded by our family and our friends...all of them there to celebrate "us".  We were engaged on 5.25.2006 and married 11.25.2006.  And, we have pictures to prove it:

Yes, we saw each other before the wedding.  All pictures were done before the wedding except 1.  We had a party to get to!
That would be me!
And, my flowers.
Ethan and I.  Several people think this is actually Ty.  So sweet!
Todd and our P's Kissin'
Something about a human bicycle...no clue.  This was BEFORE the wedding.
He loved this!
On a more serious note...the song during the candle needs to be quick.  Todd and I dont' "do quiet" time good.  We just cracked up at each other the entire time!
Yes I made Todd take dance lessons and we danced to "I've Had the Time of my Life".  He loved those dance lessons...lol!
See?  He LOVED them.

Got him!
Me and My Dad:  "I Loved Her First"
Our friends know how to party!

And, that's more like it!
2 kids and our forever home later, here we are.  We both wished we would have gone out that night with our bridal party and friends.  We hear they had an EXCELLENT time ;)
Last night we watched our wedding video and Ty said, "Mama, you're a princess".  Then he followed it with "can I have some skittles".
It's so funny to look at these pictures and know that at that time, we had know idea what would happen in 5 years.  Now, here we are.  And, I've had the time of my life.  Literally.

Disneyworld: Planning and Day 1

The Prep:  Oh Disney, you Magical place you. Lucky for us, my parents plan to take each grandchild to Disneyworld when they’re 3 years old as their Christmas gift. Now, we’re not talking a day in Magic Kingdom. This is a resort staying, multiple park hopping, several day trip. And, parents get to go to. Lucky much?

Last summer, Todd and I went to Disneyworld as a Birthday/Maternity Leave Ending/Disney research trip. We just went to Magic Kingdom and it was STILL awesome. Yes, adults can have quite a bit of fun at Disneyworld.

Anyhow, as soon as we started making plans, I knew I wanted to stay at the Caribbean Beach Resort in a room that looked like this:
Why? Because Ty thinks he's a Pirate these days.  Yes, this was our room.  They have adjoining rooms and Ty thought itw as too cool to have Mimi and Papaw next door sleeping in Pirate ship beds like him!
I also knew that I wanted to attempt all 4 parks. I’d never been to Animal Kingdom and I went to Hollywood Studios when it was MGM and it was back in High School. We were staying 4 nights and spending 3 days at the parks. So, dividing our time up was going to be tricky. And, since we were going the first weekend of the Christmas festivities and the last weekend of the Epcot Food and Wine Festival weren’t sure how those extra little perks were going to fit in our weekend.

Where to turn? http://disneyparks.disney.go.com/  (Official Website. You can do ANYTHING on here. I suggest you set up a profile, make reservations NOW (if your 180 days away from your trip, you can), and just navigate. You can find out so much here). http://disneyworldforum.disney.go.com/home.aspx
(this site is FANTASTIC. Awesome. Seriously, it’s great.) And, social media.  It’s amazing what you can find out from Facebook and Twitter. Everyone’s schedule, agenda, and goals are different at Disney. Make sure you plan your trip for YOU. That being said, here’s our Day 1.

Disney: Day 1

(for the record, we had a direct SW flight and the Magical Express picked us up at the airport. That is totally the way to go!)
First flight that Ty will MAYBE remember someday.  He was the loud kid on the plane.  Good, but LOUD.
Up and at em’ at 7am. Eastern time. For the record, we live in the Central time zone AND Ty didn’t go to bed until like 10:30pm the night before. He was up on his own at about 5:40am and we were literally out.the.door at 7am. Big Mistake. HUGE mistake.

The first park on the agenda: Magic Kingdom!
My Dad, Mom, Myself, and Todd.  This was Ty Man pre-haircut.  Yes, my Mom and I look alike.  Which is not a bad thing ;)
We left building 35 and heading to the Trinidad South Bus stop. And, we waited. Someone had called a cab and was a no show. So, we took it. And, I’m pretty sure we beat the Disney bus by like an hour for a mere $20. Not too shabby.

We walked in a saw Pluto immediately:

Ty was in awe of him and he really liked his whiskers!  Notice Ty's hair here.
Then, we had our standard Disney photo in front of Main Street (on Disney Photo pass currently as I debate on what to do about those pic's). By this time we were in limbo on time...we were hungry and eager to get to the fun stuff. But, we had a 9am hair cut appt. for Ty at the Harmony Barber Shop.  I had this brilliant idea that we just HAD to get his hair cut at Disneyworld. It was…okay. And, for $15, it was cheap.

I must admit he had some rock star hair afterwards. But, the whole idea of having a cool experience? Yeah, we didn’t make our appt. at 12pm when the Barbershop quartet “may” visit and sing. That was disappointing because no one told us that. I had opted for this instead of the Pirate's League because I thought the whole makeup on the face thing would be too messy to have on all day.  Maybe next time we'll do that.  We'll see...

After the haircut, it was time for Tomorrowland because we’re Buzz Lightyear fans around here!
Todd and Ty getting all the bad guys!

Then, Monsters Inc., the Magic Carpets, FOOD, the Parade, and the list goes on.
Hey Ty, where did your eyelashes come from?  Mama wants some.

Ty was infatuated by the characters.
Oh Woody, you just made Ty's day!
He loved them. All of them. He wanted to talk to them and know where all their friends were. THAT was awesome. He had NO CLUE they were not real. And, it was supercool.
This picture makes it look like it's all part of the Castle.  These floats were crazyawesome.

11/11/11: Where were you at 11:11am? Ty was making wishes with Buzz and Stitch.
Buzz couldn't "sign".  He stamps his name!  Such a little problem solver is he!
Ty was trying to cross his finger's to "wish".  In his hand?  The picture of him and his bro' last year on Halloween dressed as Buzz.  Buzz LOVED it!

We rode almost everything…Ty’s favorite was definitely Splash Mountain. He LOVED it. Most 3 year old’s are too short, but he rode it and loved it. And, wanted to do it again!  He also liked the Jungle Cruise quite a bit and the Pirates of the Caribbean. I was an official timer for that ride. Woohoo.
Papaw and Ty Man...chilling!

Note: Make sure you give your child a nap. We pushed Ty until about 5:30pm the first day and he was miserable (and so were we). He whined and pouted continuously. But, I’m going to take the blame.
Ty and I.  We're Rock-Star's like that.

Funny Story: As soon as we got on the bus, Ty was heading bobbing—he could not keep his eyes open. Todd was holding Ty and he pee’d all over him. Like, dripping on the floor, down Todd’s legs and all over the floor of the bus. Gross, right? I told the driver, apologized, attempted to clean it up with the tiny little towel he had but honestly, I needed a mop. Now that I think about it, it was funny. Ty has been potty trained for nearly a year now and never does that. Again, I’ll take the blame. The poor kid was exhausted!

We went to dinner that night at Shutters in our hotel. It was…okay. We didn’t make reservations anywhere so we were limited on our choices. And, at 8pm we didn’t really want to take a bus to somewhere else because we wanted Ty to get a good night’s sleep for an early day on Saturday.

Lesson’s of the Day: Eat breakfast. Give the 3 year old a nap. Get a stroller before 2pm.
You may be too big for a stroller if you have to "duck" to sit in it.
And, make dinner reservations. I knew we should have but we thought we'd be too busy to "stop" and nose dive to another place to eat and yada yada, we should have made reservations.
Happy Little Boy watching the parade with a popsicle.  Like this adorable shirt?  Check out my friend Mollie's site
She is awesome.
And, something cool to check out if you're staying for a week?  The Disney Florist  These would be cool to have as an "arriving" gift for the babies.  As if arriving at Disneyworld isn't breathtaking enough!

Coming Soon:  Day 2 at Disneyworld!

WW: Magical World of Disney

Magic.  Pure Magic.
This picture was taken with my antiquated i-phone camera.  I'm kind of impressed.
If you look realllllllly hard, you can see Mickey Mouse.  Bonus points if you find him.  Disney Guru's probably know where this was taken, but for those that don't.....................................................................it was at the entrance to Hollywood Studios.
Disneyworld rocked.  It always does.  But, with a 3 year old baby boy taking it all in with you?  Priceless.
Before I vomit Disney pic's, I need to unwind for a minute.  Or a week.  Or maybe even a month.  We literally Disney'd until we couldn't Disney anymore.
And, it was awesome.

Halloween 2011: My Zookeeper and Monkey

Halloween pictures...
Ace Man..."Monkey"

Don't let this smile fool you.  I caught him swiping money from my wallet yesterday.  When I asked him what he was doing he was all attitud-ish and said, "it's for my piggy bank Maaaaama!"  And, doesn't he look like he's 6 here?
Caught!

Brayden and Ty at Trunk or Treat

Acey sorting through candy at GG's house.
The banana cracks me up!
Trick or Treat!
And, just because
Halloween was fun and fast.  We did Trunk or Treat at our Church with the Burger's, stopped by "GG's" to see her and Todd's parents, and then made it home.
We drove to Mimi and Papaw's the week before and Ty was all upset that I didn't bring him a snack for the car.  He had a school party that day so I knew he'd have oodles of candy for the ride.
I told him that he didn't need one because he had candy coming out of his ears and he was all checking his ears in disbelief.
I love the innocence of a 3 year old!
I'm all for Halloween and dressing up and fun.
And, Thanksgiving is a great time of year to be Thankful...our Anniversary is the day after this year.
But really, I'm ready to Deck my Halls.
And, what better way to do that than to Celebrate with Mickey Mouse and all the Disney characters!!!  Follow our trip on Instagram (HomerunMama)!

WW: Candy Thief

Me:  "Okay boys, let's get some pic's in your costume.  You can hold your candy and eat anything you want WHEN WE'RE FINISHED" (Okay, so maybe that's a lie.  I mean, all the skittles, fun dip, and chewy sweetarts that Mama didn't already swipe out of your candy buckets...stupid nut allergy)...

This picture is so...
Ace is about to go all Spider-Monkey crazy on Ty.
Just because Ty's a Zookeeper doesn't mean Acey is putting up with nonsense!
REAL!
The real truth?  It's the night after Halloween and I made them get their costumes on and pose.  Yup, I'm THAT Mom.
At least I admit it.
*****
2 sleeps 'til Disney
1 (long) day of work left
0 pictures left on my camera.  Yes, that means I have an EMPTY memory card.  Mama's on it.
Haha, sort of.

I'm a Boy Mama

Being a Boy Mama is fun.
You know, because picking boogers and "sharing" is so mannerly.  Snakes...pshhhh...no biggie.  Mama's got this.
Hahah...
No really.  I like sports.  All sports.
Snakes and bugs--not so much.
But I'll deal.
Boys love their Mama's.
And having two?
Priceless.
Brothers. Best friends for life.

Happy Birthday, Memaw

Today is my Memaw’s Birthday. It’s still marked in my calendar, and it always will be.
Grief. Guilt. I have both. I think about my Memaw every day. The smallest things can make me remember her. Like, new tennis shoes. She always bought me shoes. Always. And, ice cream. I’m not even an ice cream fan. But when I see it or someone’s eating it, I think of her. I think of her when someone says “fixin’ to”. She said that often. And, in Owensboro I hear it daily. She also said “I reckon” (as in “I guess”), “I’ll Swanee” (as in “what the hell”), and “over Yonder” (as in, “over there somewhere”). I laugh when I hear these sayings and sometimes my family just says them to quote Memaw.
Memaw and Papaw with Todd and I on our wedding day.  11.25.2006
As I drove in to Louisville last Friday night, I had to take back roads because the Ohio River Bridge that we use is closed and the detour is a pain in the you know what. Thank goodness my boys were asleep as soon as I turned onto Dixie Hwy. It was right to the point of turning right for E-town or left for Louisville. E-town is where they’re buried—where they grew up. Louisville…well, that’s home to me. It was to them too and they lived off of Dixie Hwy. And, I lost it. I’m not sure why. I just miss them. I want to have a conversation again with them. A normal one—a “before Alzeheimer’s” one”. I want Ty and Ace to know them. I want to call her, like I used to after class at Bellarmine, and tell her I was coming over. She’d say, “well get some Castles” for lunch and I could just hear her smiling on the other end because I knew I just made her day.
My Memaw was a mess. She was sassy and spit-fire, but she loved so hard. She was nosey and knew what she wanted and you know what…I do too.
When someone says the word Alzheimer’s, I cringe. My heart hurts instantly. To watch someone you love succumb to such an awful disease--it’s heartbreaking. So many days I just feel guilty…why didn’t I go to their house more? Why didn’t I go to the nursing home more? What could I have done to help my Mom and Aunt more—2 people that truly devoted their lives to their parents for nearly 10 years. Why did I leave for Owensboro just about the time home health had to start coming in to their home—the home that meant Christmas Eve and all the Sunkist you ever wanted. It meant looking at her picture collages and playing Cards. It meant family.
Happy Birthday, Memaw. I miss you. Bad.

Soccer Updates

Fall Soccer came and went...and it was "okay".
Ty really didn't "get it" at first.  He knew how to kick.  He knew how to run.  But, what he didn't like was running with the ball and others trying to take it away from him.
Then he got pneumonia.
Needless to say, it took him a while to "like" it.
Here are some pictures of his first TEAM sport:
Tomorrow morning, we begin indoor soccer.  I really think he'll like this because a. it's in the gym.  The same gym that I go to and drop him off while I work out.  And, B.  It's more of a clinic with a little bit of a game at the end.  I think it's right up my 3 year old's alley.
Okay, but my favorite part of this whole soccer gig?  Check out this:

Ty-Hunter Green Team
Pictures and a trophy.  His very first trophy!!!
This made my heart happy.  And, proud.
Yep, I'm loving it!
