13.1: Mission Accomplished

My 4th 1/2 marathon is now complete.

Me, Steph, and Misty.  So proud!
Done.
I did it.
My time wasn't good. My body hurts. Bad. But I did it.
I never, ever thought I'd run like hell again. I just thought after babies I was going to mosey on with my workouts on the elliptical and call it a day. Nope. Didn't happen. I started running again in small doses. 6am short pre-workday workouts turned to 5:15am long runs before work workouts.
Speed=there is none. Sub 2-hour? Nope. Can I beat my PR of 2:04:34? Maybe one day, but not even close on Saturday.

Pre Race Jitters
But I did it. And, I'm proud.
Setting goals has been a part of my life since I remember. Sports...it's what competition does to you.
And, this goal of running a 13.1 mile race was...well, a challenge. It took time. Training. Nights of little sleep. Help-my parents and in-laws helped so much. Not to mention it's baseball season and Todd's just a little busy and in different cities every other day.
I'm proof that your body can go through hell and back and you can do it.
This is my therapy.  I need it.
Will I run another mini? Good question. After feeling miserable from mile 8 until about 2 hours after the race, I can say now..."maybe".
But, I need to lose about 10 more lbs. and, I need to work on my speed. And, the race should probably not be during baseball season!
Maybe then I'll finish in 1:59:00 (oh, how I would LOVE that!)!!!
Owensboro Represents!
To our little running club: Steph, Misty, and Kiesha
THANK YOU for pushing me. For holding me accountable. And, for laughing "with" me when I fall on curbs :)
No really, our runs make my days better.  What's said on our runs stays on our runs...and for that, I am grateful.
We let Bryce join in too.  (for the record, Bryce ran trained for like a minute and he not only finsihed the race he BEAT me!!!)
This medal was for my boys.
By the time I got back home to my phone I had about 15 texts and missed calls (whoops...a dead phone for over 12 hours will do that for ya!)...and a crazy amount of facebook messages.  Encouragement.  Way to go's.  Awesome job. Hydrate. Pace tips.  Today's the day.
And, my favorite:
You worked your ass off.  Cross the finish line and be proud.  What an accomplishment!
And, I am.
