My little 6lb 12 oz. baby boy is now 60 lbs. and 47 inches tall. That's 4 ft. tall.
He's 4.
He has been "off the charts" since he was like 4 or 5 months old. Once he started drinking formula he started growing like a weed.
Now he looks like he's 7.
He wears a size 1 shoe.
He wears 7 or 8's in clothing.
He talks like a 7 or 8 year old too. Sometimes his attitude is like a 10 year old but he knows better.
There are still whining epidodes like a typical 4 year old and we all say in unison..."You get what you get. Don't throw a fit". Or, my favorite Mama mantra..."I don't speak Whinese".
He amazes us each day with his knowledge. His "will" to learn. He loves math. He loves trying to figure out how to read. He loves to "read" the book Brown Bear to Acey. He's got it memorized. He loves memorizing. He beats me at memory. Not kidding.
He likes to watch Dora...but only to learn new Spanish words (he makes sure to tell me that's why too...). He can sing songs in Spanish and Japanese (his PreK teacher ROCKS!!!) and he's literally a sponge right now. He doesn't forget. Sometimes I wish he would, but he doesn't.
I'm getting ready to enroll him in Kindergarten. Enter sad face now...
Year 1 of Kindergarten. Yes, he may do 2 years of Kingergarten at 2 different schools. That is very common where we live and with his late birthday I don't want him being the baby of his class. He already is in Pre-K.
The only people telling me it's not a good idea are people that don't live in Owensboro.
I agree boredom could be an issue. But he can read a book if he's bored. He can take his learning to the next level. They have iPad's in classrooms so he can play a game and try to learn something...heck I don't know I just don't want him to be the baby in his age group.
He's always saying something that makes us laugh. Or, sit there in shock.
"Mama, when's the cow gonna jump over the moon? I keep watching it but there's no cows."
He sings the song "I'm Sexy and I Know It" at the most opportune times...
He is really into Jesus, "Mama, did you know he died for me on a cross with staples and nails in his hands?"
He has a ton of friends and I pray that he'll always be a good friend. To make good choices. To stand up for what he believes in. To take up for his friends and family because one of his favorite things he says when all 4 of us are together, "We're all the family!"
Sweet baby. My first baby. The one that made me a Mama.
Love him!

Educators perspective...repeat him! Brian will definitely repeat. He's got a June birthday. And I don't live in Owensboro!!
ReplyDeleteI can't believe how big Ty is! I think Brian is big until I look at Ty! He's going to kill at sports.
